The Digital Media Awards are open to all organisations and individuals involved in the digital media sector in Ireland. Today, it is more important than ever to demonstrate to your peers, company, clients and prospective clients that you are among the best in the industry.

This award aims to recognise innovation in a B2B digital media project. An entry can be any digital project with a direct commercial objective, for example a B2B website, product, an e-commerce project, or a mobile content business. Entrants should demonstrate the business benefits of the project, how they developed a new technology or new use of existing technology in an innovative way. This award will recognise a strategy, product and approach that was developed and the business benefits delivered.

This award recognises the importance of design in achieving business/organisational objectives. Creating visuals which are successful have high impact and engaging design in the digital space. Design that works well across multiple digital platforms, or is especially effective at just one particular media. Entries should demonstrate how visual creativity has enhanced the appeal, effectiveness or usability of a product, project or service in any digital medium.

Entrants should demonstrate the success of a website or online campaign in achieving a positive social impact, or in improving the ability of a third sector project or organisation to achieve its objectives. This category is open to all non-commercial websites and online campaigns (charity, state agencies, social enterprise, and not-for-profit organisations). The content should be of a high standard. The design and usability of the website or campaign needs to be of a high standard. Judges will need to know overall budget and resources but such information will be treated confidential

This category recognises innovation in online entertainment. It is open to online projects in movies, video, TV, radio, hobbies and leisure. The judges are also looking at how new and emerging online entertainment platforms and trends are being used in a creative fashion.

This category is open to all social media campaigns. Entries can for advertising, PR and advocacy campaigns, provision of entertainment, cultural, customer services or other services, or for how social media was used for market research, news and communication. Judges will be looking for the most creative, innovative and effective use of social media which delivered business benefits to clients. Submissions should demonstrate the virality of the campaign; earned vs. purchased impressions etc.

This award is for any marketing agency (traditional or digital) that is utilising digital media platforms to excite, enthuse and inspire. Entries should demonstrate how briefs were faced and how strategies and campaigns were devised to achieve the objectives. Judges will be looking for 3 examples of campaigns and the range of platforms, technologies and formats were used.

Judges will be assessing how news is delivered online in compelling, innovative and interactive ways.. This category is open to all websites using multiple channels; offering Irish and international news to their audiences. and making best use of the internet as a medium.

This award is open to all third level and higher education students and is free to enter. Entries should tell “a story of global development.”
The purpose of this award is to encourage those studying multi-media to understand how their chosen medium can be used creatively to tell a compelling story of other peoples’ lives.
Global development is not just about disasters and hard luck stories. The goals of development include the material well-being of people, but also to enhance their dignity and ability to control their life and make choices.
A story of global development should be about the diverse people of the world, their right to life, prosperity and social justice.
There are a considerable number of different ways in which those stories could be told. As an example, the project could explain the lives of people who live in other countries, through their history, food, music, sport or family relations. Or it could tell the story of the impact of internationals policies on trade, migration, aid or climate change. It could tell of how poverty impacts on the lives of women, or how education can change lives.
Entries will be judged on content as well as use of the medium and can be in any of a number of acceptable formats. The piece should be no longer than 10 minutes.
This category is open to all digital service providers including digital TV, Broadband and telephone services. Judges will be looking at all aspects from getting connected, network coverage, installation, ease of use, customer service, connection speed, signal strength, online/telephone support and billing. All commercially sensitive information given will be held in the strictest of confidence.

This award recognises individuals and companies who are excelling within the mobile internet space. Entries should demonstrate how they used this platform most effectively, through offering innovative, useful or engaging mobile content, applications, services or utilities.

This award aims to reward excellence in a digital media product, service or website that has encouraged consumers to embrace digital media technology, or has allowed consumers easier access to digital media. Entrants should demonstrate how they developed a new technology or new use of existing technology in an innovative way.

This category recognises unique interactive learning experiences. Entries should demonstrate innovation or excellence in the use of digital technology to deliver e-learning or training. Judges will be looking for excellence in eLearning and how courses and how digital courses or applications derived real benefits for organisations and/or individuals.

This category is open to any film or animation created using digital techniques and delivered via a digital medium. This award considers narrative and character development as well as technical ability, innovation and overall aesthetic. Entries should demonstrate exceptional creativity and originality, whether 2D or 3D, computer animation or flash animation, for games, for web or mobile platforms.

The best digital campaign of 2010 will be recognised in this award. Interactive media and digital content which demonstrates best practice, innovation and excellence in promoting, advertising, communicating or marketing a brand, product or service. Entries should also demonstrate the effectiveness of the campaign in generating business directly or indirectly. Campaigns can use a range of platforms and formats (including but not limited to online advertising, search marketing, viral marketing, email marketing, SMS campaigns, social media marketing and other devices). How digital campaigns were integrated with offline campaigns should also be addressed.

Judges will be assessing the strategic, creative and technical talents of the web development sector in Ireland. Based on an evaluation of a portfolio of three clients, the judges will be reviewing the overall quality of the work, the technologies deployed, development, the standard of design and the return on investment clients got for the projects. Agencies which provide clients with excellent strategic direction, strong visual and interactive design, innovative interfaces, powerful and original creative concepts will be rewarded in this category.

This category recognises excellence in the use of digital media within the financial services sector. This category is open to online banking websites/applications, shares & securities trading websites/applications, insurance, loans, payments and cards and other finance related websites/applications. It also covers interactive financial services created for new and emerging platforms including mobile banking. The website, application service or product should be easy to use and judges will be looking for creative delivery of financial solutions, business processes and educational resources.

This category is open to any individual, freelancer or enterprise that has started in business since January 2009 and is based in Ireland. The award recognises enterprises that show particular promise of becoming successful, have shown innovation in achieving export success by completing an export transaction, achieved global growth or demonstrated the potential for further export growth. Entries are invited from Irish incorporated companies exporting digital content, services and technology.

Any program using online gaming (online, mobile, casual, etc.) to create an engaging experience for the target audience and achieve the marketers objectives. Entrants should demonstrate exceptional innovation and an overall individuality in this field. Judges will be looking at those who are clearly on their way to outpacing almost every other form of entertainment, movies and music included.

Submissions should demonstrate how the application of original, new, or advanced digital technology has enabled the execution of a project, product or service, or has been used to increase its effectiveness in delivering business or other tangible objectives. This award is about using new technology in an innovative way by incorporating social networking into your app and using efficient information to create a “super” application of technology.
